For many years now, we’ve looked at ways to reduce our impact on the planet. And what better place to start than the materials we use to make our products. We take pride in recycling and reprocessing existing materials, such as plastics, CDs and even vegetables. In fact, on average, 10% of all Sony products started life as something else.
We incorporate eco-thinking into our designs too. Take the BRAVIA for example. It has a built-in sensor which can detect the ambient light of a room. It then adjusts the brightness of the screen to complement it so energy is not used unnecessarily. Some of our VAIOs have a white LED background. This allows certain diodes to shut down when not in use and this, in turn, reduces power consumption. There are plenty more stories like these.
